The Forbidden Night

“In the heart of every man there lies a daemon which if let free would create havoc”, a thought that ran through his mind constantly that night. His father was a great believer of this and had gifted him with this thought as his sole legacy. Like waves, the memory of the events, happened earlier that night, were hitting and taking him down part by part. He was so sure that won’t happen again, but if only was he aware of the truth he would have known how wrong was he. But it didn’t matter any more? His worst fears had become his reality, waiting to pounce upon him on his slightest intent to give in.

With every passing moment his heart sunk deeper and deeper in the forbidden waters of jealousy and hatred. His heart was stabbed by the dagger of betrayal, excruciatingly. Even after emptying two bottles of his father’s finest scotch, the pain was still there. No, he couldn’t bear it anymore, he had to do something to get rid of it and that’s when his father’s words echoed in his mind.

A voice, probably his father’s, was etching those words in his mind. Was that time? He wondered. He thought of the consequences and a loud NO came out of him but then the wave of memories hit back and washed away his resistance. He mute the voice, opened the gates of his conscious and welcomed the daemon. From his cupboard he transferred it to his pocket and headed for the place where he once saw heaven. The fast rhythm of his heart was audible in silence of the night, as he walked. His mind, blind-folded by revenge, lost its capability to wander. He stood at the door of his room and saw for the one last time, then with his cold eyes, numb mind and burning heart he did it and liberated himself from shackles of the forbidden.
