What lies in the Closet

Day by day the closet was getting mysterious. It was said “In the womb of closet lies the son of devil”. The inscription on the back says it too but it was yet unseen by his eyes. The closet was built by his ancestors and has been there since then. He never felt the need to move it or clean it as it was housed in one of the discarded rooms of his mansion. The room was filled by all kinds of antiques he inherited from his forefathers but he didn’t knew the closet’s story nor any of others. How could he? He never found his family history intriguing. His father use to tell him various anecdotes from their family history but he slept through most of them. Had he listened to the one his father told him a day before his death, he would have known the reason. The reason to all his miseries, the reason why he lost her, the reason why he was born – it was all there in that closet.

Once someone said “A man’s destiny is bestowed upon him when he is born”, had he been born in some other blood, he would have lead a much happier life, probably. But that’s immaterial now. The crimson which runs through his veins has written his destiny in its own color and linked it with the closet, for the same crimson is what devil feeds upon. Such was the diet of the king of dark who had been kept hungry for years, and the hunger grows with each generation of his family. But even in wildest dreams he can’t imagine that such secrets run through his blood line.

Nefertiti, engraved on the door of the closet, was another mystery in itself. The word has lost its meaning in the sands of time. Nobody knows what it means as it was used only by the selected few and that too centuries ago. He first noticed this word when she came into his life, and has been wondering ever since. Was there a connection between her and the word? A question which never struck his mind, but would become a vital part of his life.
